Bru and Moore Doubts Ahead of Cardiff Trip - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Kevin Bru and striker Kieffer Moore are doubts ahead of Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City. The Blues will also be without midfielder Emyr Huws, who is ineligible against his parent club but would miss out anyway with a tight hamstring.

"Kevin Bru got a bang on his knee and he’s missed training today,” manager Mick McCarthy said.

"And Kieffer Moore had a slight groin strain and he thought he was going to train today and he hasn’t. With those two I’ll wait and see, they’re a bit of a doubt at the moment.

"Didzy hadn’t trained until today but he’s fine, he’s trained. And Tom Lawrence hadn’t and he’s fine. But other than the two lads, Kevin and Kieffer, we are as we were.”

Regarding the unavailable Huws, he added: "He’s injured anyway, his hamstring’s tight. He wouldn’t be playing but he can’t play, we knew that.”

McCarthy revealed Luke Hyam is facing another significant spell on the sidelines with the injury he suffered in training last week.

"Luke Hyam’s damaged his ankle ligaments and he’s going to be out for four to six weeks,” he continued.

"It’s a really terrible blow for him, he’ll be glad to see the back of this season, I’m sure, and start again next year.

"It’s unbelievable luck for Luke and it was a real freak, it was a brilliant block on the line to block a shot. Typical of him, as wholehearted and as honest as ever.

"He blocked the shot, it was great defending but it’s hit him right on the toe and it’s opened his ligaments up.”

Meanwhile, Jonny Williams is back in training and making progress having suffered a minor niggle in the U23s last week as he made his recovery from his shoulder injury.

"Jonny Williams had a tight hamstring, but he trained yesterday, he’s trained today and he’s looked great so he’s back at it,” the Town boss said.

McCarthy says Steven Taylor will play for the U23s against Crewe Alexandra at Portman Road on Monday (KO 7pm).

"He’s trained well today,” he said. "He was talking to me and he put himself up for the squad but I couldn’t really hear him, he was just making a noise.

"So I said ‘You’re in the squad for Monday, that’ll do you’. So he’ll be playing on Monday.”

Winger Danny Rowe wasn’t involved with the U23s as they lost 3-1 at Nottingham Forest this Monday but McCarthy says the January signing from Macclesfield is fit.

"He was never going to feature at Nottingham Forest,” he added. "He was always going to be in the squad and train with us. He’s fine, he’s trained all week.”
