Benyu on Target for Aldershot - Ipswich Town News

On-loan Blues midfielder Kundai Benyu netted his second senior goal as he helped Aldershot to a 2-0 win at Macclesfield as the fifth-placed Shots kept up their Vanarama National League play-off challenge.

Benyu, who is currently in the fourth month of his loan spell at the Recreation Ground, opened the scoring in the 59th minute.

Speaking earlier this month, Town boss Mick McCarthy has said the Blues will be taking up the year option on the 19-year-old’s current deal and "probably giving him a longer contract".

Benyu has been on the Blues' first-team bench on four occasions but so far without making his Town debut.

Elsewhere, Shane McLoughlin made his debut and impressed as a 79th minute sub for Bromley, the side he joined on loan for the remainder of the season on Thursday, as they lost 1-0 at home to Chester.

"He’s a lively character, he’s so keen to impress, he’s worked hard in training," Ravens manager Neil Smith said after the game.

"I spoke to Mick McCarthy, who gave him glowing references. He’s going to be one that we’re going to look at.”
