Huws: A Performance to Emulate in Remaining Games - Ipswich Town News

Blues midfielder Emyr Huws says he and his team-mates will try to emulate their performance during yesterday’s 3-1 home victory over Newcastle United during the remaining three games of the season. The 23-year-old Wales international lashed home Town’s third goal in injury time to confirm the win.

"Everyone’s buzzing in big occasions, and it was a great atmosphere today, credit to the fans. We all enjoyed it and I hope they did as well,” the on-loan Cardiff man said.

"That win had been coming, I think. Credit to the gaffer, his game plan was bang on, we pressed them high and hit them on the counter-attack.

"The fans were really good, the support was immense, and that’s what we need. We’re going to try and emulate that performance in the remainder of the season.

"It was a really good performance, we imposed our game on them and they didn’t have answers.”

The Blues travel to table-propping, already-relegated Rotherham on Saturday before Sheffield Wednesday visit for Portman Road’s final home game of the season, prior to a last-day trip to Nottingham Forest.

He added: "We deserved what we got. The performances have been there but we just haven’t been clinical enough.

"Didzy and Searsy put the graft in and hound defenders, they help us a lot by putting teams under pressure and they’ve both been clinical today and recently.

"It was nice to get a goal. It was a great ball from Pits and luckily, I put it in, I was really happy with that.

"We’ve played against the big clubs and been the better team without putting the ball in the net when we should have.”

In terms of his future, with his loan up at the end of the season and his Bluebirds contract having two further years to run, he said: "I’m not sure what’s going to happen at the minute, but I’d like to stay at Ipswich.

"We’ve just been focusing on getting results and points, and that’s what we’ll continue to do until the end of the season before we go from there.”

"I’ve been really enjoying my time here, the boys are top class. The staff and everyone else at the club are really welcoming and I’ve been really enjoying playing in this team, there’s real quality.”

Manager Mick McCarthy has said he wants to keep the former Manchester City youngster at Portman Road.
