McCarthy: Samuel Impressing and Could Be Looked at Longer Term - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says on-loan Reading striker Dominic Samuel could come into his thinking when he looks to make longer-term additions to his squad in the summer.

"Possibly, of course,” McCarthy said. "He’s here on loan, he’s not had any game time, pretty much because he broke his toe.

"And then as he’s come back Didzy and Freddie have been doing all right, the front players who he would have to replace. That’s why he’s never played.”

But despite having made only three sub appearances the 23-year-old, who has a year left on his Royals contract, has caught McCarthy’s eye in training.

"He’s impressed everybody,” he added. "He’s certainly a good finisher and [he had] his little cameo appearance when he came on and helped up set up the goal against Birmingham.

"He has impressed, I’ve been really pleased with him, so there’s every chance that he’ll get his opportunity this weekend.”
