Lawrence Set to Return But Diagouraga Ruled Out - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Mick McCarthy expects 11-goal top scorer Tom Lawrence to be available for Saturday’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday when he says he will switch back to the team which recorded back-to-back wins against Burton and Newcastle United. Midfielder Toumani Diagouraga will miss out on a place on the bench having suffered a groin injury.
"He’s been having treatment since then and he’s been out and trained fully with the lads today,” McCarthy said regarding Lawrence, who picked up an ankle injury against the Magpies. "Providing there’s no ill effects from today, he’s fine.
"Toums has hurt his groin, he’s not going to be available for Saturday.
"But anyway, I’ve already made it plain that the team that played against Burton and against Newcastle will be playing on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday, unless there are any problems, of course.”
Loan midfielder Jonny Williams has been ruled out for the season with a hamstring problem, while Luke Hyam, Adam Webster (both ankle), Steven Taylor (hamstring) and Jonas Knudsen (shoulder) remain sidelined.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
