Town groundsman Alan Ferguson has returned from his trip to Scotland and has prnounced the Hampden Park pitch fine for tomorrow's Scottish Cup Final between his old club Rangers, and Celtic. However, he has failed to retain his top groundsman award.
The pitch had been heavily criticised and has been completely relayed. Ferguson was invited to a meeting yesterday and says the new pitch is a perfect surface for tomorrow's game and the Champions' League Final later in the month.
Ferguson was named Groundsman of the Year last season, but has missed out on the honour this time around. This year's top pitch maintainer was the man responsible for Arsenal's Highbury surface, Paul Burgess.
