East Anglian Derbies and Fulham Trip Switch Dates - Ipswich Town News

Town’s two derby games against Norwich City have made their now familiar switch to Sunday lunchtimes, while the Blues’ away match at Fulham has moved from New Year’s Day to the following evening, Tuesday 2nd January (KO 7.45pm).

The Canaries were due to be in Suffolk on Saturday 21st October but that match will now be played at noon the following day on police advice.

Town’s trip to Carrow Road will now take place on Sunday 18th February, also at noon, again on police advice. The Fulham match has been rescheduled at the request of the Cottagers.

The Blues says they have not put forward any further fixture amendments with the convenience of supporters, particularly during holiday periods, very much in their thoughts.

"There were discussions to move the Derby County game at Portman Road [forward] a day to Friday 29th December in order to give the players an extra day of rest in what is a very busy schedule,” new club secretary Stuart Hayton told the club site.

"However, we decided it would be of greater benefit to our supporters to keep the game on Saturday 30th.

"There will also be no change to our Easter Monday game against Millwall for similar reasons, despite playing Birmingham City at St Andrews on the Saturday prior.

"We saw how much the supporters enjoyed last season's clash [against Newcastle] by turning up in numbers and providing a great atmosphere, so we want to try and replicate that again."

Despite Town having no plans to move any other games, fixture dates and kick-off times are still subject to switches if Sky Sports opt to screen them live.
