McCarthy and Staff Watch Friendly in Dublin - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Mick McCarthy and members of his staff were at Richmond Park in Dublin last night to watch League of Ireland Premier Division St Patrick’s Athletic beat Scottish Premiership Hearts 1-0 in a pre-season friendly.

McCarthy was joined by assistant Terry Connor, goalkeeper-coach Malcolm Webster and head of performance analysis Will Stevenson.

The Town squad are currently at the Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare for their annual training camp and McCarthy usually takes in at least one match while the Blues are in Ireland.

JJ Lunney scored the only goal of the game for the home side, who featured ex-Town man Owen Garvan in their midfield.

Christophe Berra, who left the Blues at the end of the season, was in the Hearts squad along with ex-loanee Conor Sammon and Kyle Lafferty, who recently joined the Edinburgh side having been linked with Town following his release by Norwich.

Also in action for Hearts was 20-year-old defender Jordan McGhee, who was interesting Town in the summer of 2015, however, a player who plays as a right-sided centre-back or right-back would appear to be an unlikely target for the Blues at the present time.
