Andre Dozzell and the England U19s beat Holland 1-0 in their second group game at the European Championships in Tbilisi this afternoon.
Dozzell, who was winning his second U19s cap, played the full 90 minutes and showed a number of classy touches and played one particularly incisive first-half through ball playing in a deep-lying central midfield role as the Young Lions picked a deserved second win of their week courtesy of sub Ben Brereton’s 84th minute tap-in, Monday’s game against Bulgaria having ended 2-0.
The youngsters’ place in the semi-finals is all but sealed but will be confirmed if Germany fail to beat Bulgaria this evening. England’s final game, which is live on Eurosport, is against the Germans on Sunday, also in Tbilisi.
Dozzell, who signed a new Town contract running to the summer of 2020 when he turned 18 in May, won nine caps with the England U18s during 2016/17, having been a regular starter and occasional captain of the U17s a year earlier.
