Rotherham Confirm Moore Loan - Ipswich Town News

Rotherham have confirmed that Blues striker Kieffer Moore has joined them on a season-long loan. TWTD first revealed that the Millers were eyeing the 24-year-old and Blues right-back Josh Emmanuel, 19, a fortnight ago.

Moore, who was among the scorers as Town won 5-0 at Drogheda on Saturday, was spotted training with the Millers squad in Austria earlier today.

The former Yeovil, Viking and Forest Green striker, who was also understood to be interesting a number of other clubs including Plymouth, Port Vale, Partick Thistle and Stevenage, will make his first appearance for Rotherham in a friendly against Austrian side Floridsorfar on Tuesday.

Millers manager Paul Warne is delighted to have added 6ft 5in tall Moore to his squad.

"We are delighted to bring Kieffer into the club," he told the Rotherham official website.

"He played against us last year and did well. We spoke to a few people about him and it was all good news.

"He has got some amazing attributes. He is really keen and ready to learn. He is very athletic and very strong and it is another striker to add to our attacking force.

"Kieffer's arrival now gives us more options. I have always said the more strikers and the more competition I can get up front the better. He will play a part in the game tomorrow night and I look forward to seeing how he shapes up."

He added: "I am really happy that he decided to come to us, he has come out to Austria and he has got on with the lads straight away.

"He flew straight out here from Dublin to join up with us, where he played for Ipswich and scored for them on Saturday. I really liked him when I saw him play and when I met him I liked his attitude.

"He is another positive kid to have around the place. He wants to come here and help us, he has plenty of ability and I really like the way we are shaping up now up top."

Blues boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that Moore and Emmanuel were close to joining the League One side following Saturday's game at Drogheda.

There is as yet no confirmation of Emmanuel's switch, some minor details are still to be completed, which is also set to be a season-long loan, although both deals will include the provision for them to be brought back to Portman Road in January.

Speaking after Saturday's match McCarthy said the moves are aimed at giving the pair regular first-team football, which they won't get at Portman Road once the season starts.

"They both need to play games," he said. "And I don’t want Josh here as a substitute coming on and playing a bit part, he needs to go and play to improve, as does Kieffer.

"Neither of them will start in front of Jordan Spence or whoever else is starting up front. I think it’s really important that they get football.

"You benefit from getting week in, week out football. I remember it myself when you start and you play. Thankfully I got in the team and I was in every week and it just improves you every week.”

He added: "[Josh is] going until the January window and we’ll see how he does. Hopefully he’s ripping it up and we want to have him back. The only way he’s going to get better is by playing.

"They’re season-long loans but there’s a break clause in them. You’ve got to put that in because if you don’t then they get stuck there if they’re not playing or if they’re ripping it up and I want them back.

"Why would I even think about not having something to bring them back? But I’ll only bring them back if I want to play them.”
