Moore Nets Twice for Millers - Ipswich Town News

Blues striker Kieffer Moore got his loan spell with Rotherham off to a goalscoring start as he netted twice as the Millers thrashed local side Floridsdorfer 7-1 in the opening friendly of their Austrian training camp earlier this evening.

Moore, who joined the League One side on a season-long loan yesterday, played the first hour and scored his goals in the first half.

"It was good for Kieffer to get a couple of goals,” Rotherham manager Paul Warne said. "You can see what he brings to the team. He has settled in really well."

Prior to the game the 24-year-old, who also scored for Town in the 5-0 win at Drogheda on Saturday before linking up with the Millers, said he was pleased to complete his move.

"I am delighted to come here and play for Rotherham,” he told the official Rotherham site.

"I think this could be the start of something really special coming here. I think the upcoming season is going to be a really good one for the club.

"This is the perfect move for me. I want to come out here and play, and try and get as many games and goals as I can.

"I believe at the moment I am hitting some of my best form. I have come into pre-season really fit and I am ready to go now.”

Moore, who was also being chased by a number of other clubs, says Millers boss Warne was a big reason he opted to join the South Yorkshiremen: "The major factor for me coming here was the gaffer.

"I think he really sold it to me. I believed everything he said when we spoke. He wants to move the club forward.

"I was inspired by his vision and I firmly believe that this season we will give it a right go.

"It is part and parcel of football, you have to be prepared to move and jump on a plane and travel at any moment.

"Circumstances change in an instant. Coming out here and getting straight into training isn't a problem. I know what needs to be done and I have a strong mindset and I wanted to get straight over here.”

Moore's Town contract is up next summer but with the Blues having an option to keep him for a further season.

Speaking at the weekend, manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that Moore and Josh Emmanuel were set to join the Millers for the season with both deals including the option for a break in January.

However, Emmanuel’s switch is still to be finalised with the Blues perhaps looking for cover for first-choice right-back Jordan Spence before allowing the 20-year-old to move out.

Meanwhile, we understand reports that the Blues are close to completing the signing Wolves winger or striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson on loan are premature, although the Icelander is believed to be a player the Town management rate.

Bodvarsson, 25, has been given an extended summer break by the Molineux club and could be told he can find another club by new manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
