Old Boys Moving On - Ipswich Town News

A number of Town old boys look to be on the move as the close season reshuffle begins in earnest. Eddie Youds is off on a Bosman, while David Johnson may renew an old striking partnership and Terry Westley moves from Rushden and Diamonds.

Youds is weighing up where to go as his contract with Charlton comes to an end. Blackpool look favourites with Wigan, Tranmere and Reading are also said to be interested.

Johnson is available at a cut-price £120,000 and is reported to be a target of newly relegated Leicester.

If he does move to the Foxes then he'll join James Scowcroft whith whom he topped the Town goalscoring charts in 1998/99. Burnley, where Johnson had a loan spell, are also said to be keen on signing the striker permanently.

Also on the move is former Town community development officer Terry Westley. The former Luton manager and Ipswich ball-boy has left his job as first team coach at Rushden and Diamonds to become the director of Derby County's Academy.

Alan Connell, amongst the small number of Academy players released by the Blues this year, has ended a trial at Bournemouth and has been invited to return for a further spell. Connell, along with Matt Bloomfield's brother Danny (released by Norwich), will spend more time at Dean Court during pre-season.
