Goals from Conor McKendry (pictured), Ben Folami and Declan Daniels helped Town's U23 side to a 3-1 victory over Bury Town at Ram Meadow on Wednesday evening in their latest pre-season friendly.
The young Blues started brightly and home keeper Luis Tibbles tipped Shane McLoughlin's shot from the edge of the box just over early on, shortly before an error from left-back Jed Wigley gave Monty Patterson a sight of goal, but the New Zealand international lifted his effort over Tibbles and wide of the far post.
Michael Crowe parried Ollie Hughes's left-foot shot away and Darren Mills's follow-up effort was deflected just over by Adam McDonnell.
Wigley atoned for his earlier error by sliding in to prevent Ben Morris tapping in Patterson's cross, moments before Tibbles blocked the latter's shot at his near post.
Morris turned provider for Town's opening goal on 34 when his right-wing cross was met by the on-rushing Conor McKendry, who converted from close range.
Mills fired a low long-range effort just wide on the hour, and Hughes's drive was then blocked by Crowe minutes later.
The home keeper did well to keep goalbound efforts from James Blanchfield and McKendry within a matter of minutes, while at the other end Crowe was again called into action; this time getting behind Tommy Robinson's swerving shot from 25 yards out.
On 78 Town doubled their advantage when Albert Wilton's deep cross from the right found Folami at the back post and the Australian took a touch before rolling the ball into the net.
With two minutes remaining striker Daniels, who recently joined Lowestoft Town on loan, latched on to a fine ball from Blanchfield before finding the far bottom corner to add a third.
The home side did pull a late and deserved consolation back in the third minute of stoppage time when Robinson's shot took a slight deflection off George Fowler and left Crowe with no chance.
Gerard Nash's side controlled much of the first half without creating too many clear-cut chances. Patterson was involved in most of Town's attacking play while McKendry was lively throughout and was on the receiving end of a number of fouls from the hosts.
