Butcher on FA Diving Panel - Ipswich Town News

Blues legend Terry Butcher has been named on the list of former players, managers and referees who will be part of FA panels reviewing diving incidents in the season ahead.

Eight former players and managers are on the list: Butcher, Nigel Adkins, Rachel Brown-Finnis, Lee Dixon, Alex McLeish, Danny Murphy, Chris Powell and Trevor Sinclair.

Five former referees - Keren Barratt, Steve Dunn, Mike Mullarkey, Alan Wiley and Eddie Wolstenholme - will join them in adjudicating whether players have taken part in "the successful deception of a match official” with each panel made up of one former player, one manager and one whistler.

If the trio agree that that a player has conned an official into awarding a penalty or giving a yellow or red card to an opponent, then they will be charged and could face a two-match ban.
