Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s in no hurry to sign another winger and is currently happy with his squad.
Asked whether he was still looking to sign another wideman, he said: "Whether we can bring one in or not is another matter. Bearing in mind I lost Dozzer, I know I’ve got plenty of midfield players.
"No, if we get everybody fit, I think we’ve got a good squad, it’s just the toll it takes on players and hopefully we won’t get too many injuries this season.”
The Blues utilised a 3-5-2 formation at the weekend but does McCarthy primarily still expect to use a more winger-friendly 4-4-2 system?
"I’m completely open-minded to it,” he said. "But whatever it takes, the system that works best for us.
"You’ve got to have certain players regarding wingers. You’ve got to have wingers like Tabby [Jay Tabb] and Ando [Paul Anderson] who tuck in and can get tucked in and do all the dirty stuff and then get out and do the other bits.
"Whether we’ve got those in the building is another matter, so I’ll play whatever I need to play to get results.”
Quizzed on this morning’s link with Cardiff’s Craig Noone, he added: "I wouldn’t talk about him but he’s a good player, Craig Noone. I’ve not spoken to anybody but if you’re asking me if he’s a good player, yes he is.”
