Holland Joins Squad - Ipswich Town News

Matt Holland has joined up with the Irish squad ahead of this summer's World Cup. The Town skipper looks likely to take some part in Niall Quinn's testimonial at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.

Ireland play a friendly with a Finidi-less Nigeria in Dublin on Thursday, and once in Japan face club side Hiroshima at the Izumo City stadium on May 25th.

In the group stages of the World Cup they face Cameroon on June 1st in Niigata, Germany in Ibaraki on June 5th and Saudi Arabia in Yokohama on June 11th.

Meanwhile Kieron Dyer says he is still hopeful of getting fit for the World Cup although it looks very unlikely that he'll make it. The former Town man has been given a week to prove his fitness by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Amir Karic and the Slovenian squad assembled in Ljubljana at the end of last week and face Ghana in a friendly on Friday.
