Nydam and Downes Could Win First England U19s Caps - Ipswich Town News

Town midfielders Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes could win their first England U19s caps this afternoon when the Young Lions face Poland in a friendly at St George’s Park (KO 2pm).

Nydam, 17, previously won one cap at U18s level, while fellow academy product Downes, 18, is with an international squad for the first time.

The England youngsters will take on Germany in another friendly at Mansfield’s One Call Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The party features a number of players who were involved as the U19s won the European Championships in Georgia in the summer and another Blues midfielder, Andre Dozzell, a key member of that side, would almost certainly have been included had he not suffered a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury on the opening day of the campaign.
