Folami Nets Late Winner for U23s at Wednesday - Ipswich Town News
Ben Folami netted a late winner as Town’s U23s beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough this afternoon, on-loan Manchester City winger Bersant Celina having given the Blues the lead in the first half.
Celina, playing his second U23s game in five days as he looks to get minutes under his belt having been hampered by illness in the early weeks of the season, curled home a brilliant 20-yard freekick before Wednesday equalised through a Lucas Joao penalty in the second half.
But Australian striker Folami, one of the players to make his senior debut at Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and a scorer in Tuesday’s 3-2 U23s victory over Sheffield United, grabbed the winner in the final minute.
Midfielder Tom Adeyemi played 80 minutes in his second appearance for the U23s as he continues his comeback after illness and a calf injury, while Danny Rowe was also in the side.
The U23s, who are coached by Gerard Nash, have now won three of their first four games this season.
TWTD user Sheffield Tractor was at the game and has written a blog giving his thoughts on the game.
U23s: Wright, D Crowe, Webber, Adeyemi, Woolfenden, C Smith, Rowe, McLoughlin, Morris, Celina, Folami. Subs: Blanchfield, Ndaba, Dobra.
