Town Want to Keep Sixto - Ipswich Town News

George Burley says Town will try to keep Sixto Peralta despite the club's relegation. The Argentinian is rated at £3 million by his club Inter Milan and is reportedly interesting two Premiership sides.

Burley said: "We are still in discussions with Inter Milan about Sixto. We want to keep him but it is a more difficult situation for us now we have been relegated.

"The boy wants to stay and we would like to keep him."

Burley met with Finidi George yesterday and will listen to offers for the Nigerian, as well as Italian keeper Matteo Sereni.

Mark Venus has now received a contract offer and is mulling it over. The veteran defender was hoping to get a one-year offer from a Premiership side but as yet has heard nothing.

Fabian Wilnis is said to be interesting two Premiership sides. Earlier in the season Fulham and Manchester City were linked with the Dutchman, although it isn't known whether they are the clubs currently interested.

Wilnis was told a few months ago he can leave on a free transfer, although more recently George Burley suggested he may be keen for him to stay at Portman Road.

Definitely on the way out is keeper Mike Salmon. He was told yesterday that his contract will not be renewed. Salmon failed to make a single first team appearance since joining from Charlton in 1999.
