Town Increase Security After Break-Ins - Ipswich Town News

Town have increased security at Portman Road after TV screens were stolen and fridges raided during two break-ins earlier this week.

According to police, they first received a report that intruders had broken into the ground overnight on Saturday when they got into the executive boxes in the East of England Co-op Stand, including the one next to Town owner Marcus Evans’s, where they stole vintage wine.

They then made their way down to the kitchens below and having raided fridges and freezers staged a food fight with frozen cheesecakes.

What’s understood to be the same gang of about four people returned in the early hours of Wednesday morning when a number of plasma TVs were taken. Police are yet to make any arrests.

Suffolk Constabulary said in a statement: "Police received a report at 7.50am on Sunday 9th October that an unknown person had gained access to the grounds earlier that morning. Unclear [at] this time if anything has been taken.

"Police [were] called again just after 6am [on] Wednesday 11th October to reports of a further break-in overnight. Enquiries are in hand.”

A Town spokesman said: "We can confirm there have been two incidents over the last week of intrusion at the stadium. The police are aware and are investigating. We have increased our security as a matter of course."
