Defender Worries - Ipswich Town News

Town still have worries over defenders Fabian Wilnis (hamstring) and Gary Croft (groin). Both will take fitness tests before tonight's game with WBA.

With John McGreal almost certain not to start after injuring his ankle on Saturday Town's defence could line up in any of several ways.

The formation could be 4-4-2, it could be 5-3-2. Certain starters at the back are Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus whilst Jamie Clapham will certainly play, perhaps in midfield. Croft, Wilnis, Manu Thetis, Wayne Brown and Mickey Stockwell are all possible starters in the injury-hit defence.

Marcus Stewart is likely to be on the bench after recovering from his injury.

Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Croft, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Reuser, Scowcroft, Johnson, Naylor, Stewart and Axeldal. The rather poor weather is not expected to cause the game to be called off, although there has been a lot of rain in the West Midlands.

Former Town management stalwart Charlie Woods is rumoured to be quitting Spurs at the end of the season to join Bobby Robson at Newcastle.

Woods was youth coach and reserve team coach under Robson at Portman Road. Having witnessed Woods' time at White Hart Lane expect to see offers in for numerous Town players from Newcastle next season.
