Town After Icelander? - Ipswich Town News

TWTD understands that Hermann Hreidarsson's friend Ivar Ingimarsson could make a summer move to Portman Road. The 24-year-old Brentford defender is highly-rated at Griffin Park and is a former Icelandic Player of the Year.

Ingimarsson has also played at IBV Vestmann, Hreidarsson's former club, and joined Brentford for £150,000 in November 1999. He has made 135 appearances for the Bees, scoring 11 goals.

The Icelander, who also had a spell on loan at Torquay in 1999, is available on a Bosman, something that may be a major attraction to cash-strapped Town.

He started his Icelandic career with Valur Reykjavik and has played at U16, U18, U21 and full level for his country.

Stoke and Watford are also said to be interested in Ingimarsson, who has been told by national manager Atli Edvaldsson that he must be playing at least First Division level if he is to be considered for Iceland's Euro 2004 games.

In November last year he joined Town defender Hreidarsson, who also spent time with Brentford, for what was described as a 'puffin party', see Related Link at bottom of page.

We also hear that Town are set to play a pre-season friendly at Brentford on July 31st.
