Arsenal Linked With Nydam Move - Ipswich Town News

Arsenal are reported to be ready to make a January move for young Town midfielder Tristan Nydam.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the Gunners are long-time admirers of the 17-year-old and Arsene Wenger will step up his interest during the next transfer window.

Arsenal are said to be preparing a £2 million bid for the England U19 international having been alerted that the Zimbabwe-born Blues academy product has only 18 months left on his contract.

However, that situation is largely down to players only being allowed to sign two-year contracts prior to their 18th birthdays. The terms signed on his 17th birthday are up next summer but presumably with the club having an option for a further season.

Nydam turns 18 on November 6th when it’s expected he will put pen to paper on an extended deal, as Andre Dozzell - who was similarly linked with big Premier League clubs after breaking into the the Town first team - did when he celebrated his 18th in May.

That being the case, it’s unlikely the Blues would allow the Colchester-raised youngster to move on at this early stage of his career or for anything like the fee suggested.

Nydam has made eight starts and four sub appearances for Town this season having made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup tie at Luton in August.
