Downes in England U19s Squad - Ipswich Town News

Blues midfielder Flynn Downes has been named in the England U19s squad for their European Championships first round qualifying games in Bulgaria during the international break.

The Young Lions will take on the Faroe Islands on Wednesday 8th November, Iceland on the following Saturday and the host nation on Tuesday 14th November.

The top two nations in the group go through to the elite round of qualifying which will be held in March.

England are defending the title they won in Georgia in the summer, a team which featured Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell, who still qualifies for the U19s but is out injured, almost certainly for the whole season.

Downes, 18, has previously won one U19s cap in the 3-1 defeat to Germany at Mansfield in September,

Fellow Blues midfielder Tristan Nydam, who also won his first U19s cap earlier in the season, is not included in the squad.
