Five Changes as Blues Face Preston - Ipswich Town News

David McGoldrick, Martyn Waghorn, Callum Connolly, Adam Webster and Jordan Spence return to the Town side for this afternoon’s home game against Preston North End.

Dominic Iorfa, Grant Ward and Kevin Bru drop to the bench having started at Cardiff in midweek, while Tommy Smith and Flynn Downes are left out of the 18.

McGoldrick, Waghorn and Bersant Celina look set to play behind lone out-and-out frontman Joe Garner, who will be facing his old club. On-loan Everton man Connolly, primarily a defender, seems set to start in central midfield alongside Cole Skuse.

Irish international striker Sean Maguire is the latest player to join Preston’s injury crisis having suffered a hamstring injury with six defenders already sidelined.

Town: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers (c), Webster, Knudsen, Skuse, Connolly, Waghorn, McGoldrick, Celina, Garner. Subs: Gerken, Iorfa, Ward, Sears, Nydam, Bru, Kenlock.

Preston: Maxwell, Fisher, Huntington (c), Boyle, O’Connor, Welsh, Barkhuizen, Pearson, Browne, Johnson, Hugill. Subs: Hudson, Vermijl, Horgan, Harrop Gallagher, Mavididi, Robinson. Referee: Andy Madley (West Yorkshire).
