Finidi Left Out - Ipswich Town News
Town's Finidi George has been left out of the Nigeria squad for this summer's World Cup. The winger had hoped that he and former captain Sunday Oliseh would receive a late reprieve from new manager Adegboye Onigbinde, however neither is included in the 23 which is travelling to Japan.
New captain Jay Jay Okocha has sympathy with Finidi, Oliseh and Victor Agali who is also not included: "Well I think it is difficult for those players to miss out. It's unlucky for them because they are good players.
"You have to respect the decision of the coach but my opinion is that they should have been included in the squad."
Oliseh and Finidi led the rest of the players in a protest about unpaid fees at the African Nations' Cup in Mali earlier this year.
Despite claims that all had been forgiven by the new manager, who took over after Nigeria's poor performance in Mali, it seems Onigbinde was still unwilling to include them in his plans.
