Johnson Apologises - Ipswich Town News

Town striker David Johnson is today reported to have apologised to Jim Magilton after an argument where the Northern Irishman received a push to the face.

This led to George Burley substituing the former Bury player, but this is as far as any disciplinary matters will go.

Burley said: "I took David off for disciplinary reasons. He has since apologised to Jim. The matter has been sorted out in our dressing room and no further action will be taken.

"David will be in the squad against Port Vale on Saturday and there is no question of his being fined by the club. No further action will be taken. The matter is now closed."

The incident in question occured on the hour mark after Johnson had missed a chance where Magilton had played a ball into James Scowcroft, the big striker had nodded the ball down, Johnson had taken the ball past Jensen in goal and then put the shot wide.

Moments later there was an angry exchange of views between Magilton and Johnson during which Johnson pushed Magilton's face and clearly told him to "fuck off" along with an accompanying gesture. Matt Holland and James Scowcroft restored calm before George Burley replaced Johnson with Marcus Stewart.
