On-loan Town midfielder Adam McDonnell was shown the first red card of his professional career last night as Aldershot won 2-0 away at Bromley to climb to the top of the Vanarama National League.
The 20-year-old was shown a second yellow card for dissent in the 41st minute but the Shots, who were already a goal in front at that stage, still went on to win, adding a second after the break, while the Ravens were also reduced to 10 men in stoppage time.
Duboliner McDonnell has enjoyed a hugely successful spell with the Shots, who now lead their division on goal difference from Sutton United, and is likely to be credited with his fourth goal of his three months there, video evidence having shown that his strike during Saturday’s 2-0 home win against Wrexham crossed the line, despite initially being given to Shamir Fenelon, who followed up.
Childish from me getting sent off have to say sorry for that and move on and learn from it but the lads got the job done and won 2-0!! Top of the league..🔵🔴ðŸ‘🼖 adam mc donnell (@AdamMcDonnell97) November 28, 2017
Blues defender George Fowler was also in the side which won at Bromley and against Wrexham, the 19-year-old playing the full 90 minutes on both occasions.
Meanwhile, Town academy schoolboy Ben Knight is currently with the England U16s squad at the Nike International Friendlies in Florida, where the Young Lions face the hosts later today, then Brazil and the Netherlands. The games are being shown live by US Soccer.
