U18s in FA Youth Cup Action at Everton - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U18s are in FA Youth Cup third round tie action against Everton at Goodison Park this evening (KO 7pm).
The winners of the tie will face either Oxford or Dagenham & Redbridge at home in round four.
"It’s a very good opportunity for the U18s to showcase what they’re about,” academy manager Lee O'Neill told the club site.
"It’s always exciting in the Youth Cup as the games have a bit more to them than usual.
"Playing under the lights in a new stadium with more people watching will be a different challenge for them. We know Everton will be very good but we’re looking forward to it.”
Last season the Blues' U18s exited the Youth Cup in the third round - the stage at which they enter the competition - following a 4-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest after extra time.
Town have carried off the trophy on three occasions, in 1973, 1975 and 2005.
