Boots2Africa Donation Event at Leeds Match - Ipswich Town News

Boots2Africa will be hosting another of their preloved football boot donation events at Town in the FanZone from 1pm ahead of Saturday’s home game against Leeds United.

Boots2Africa is a small community interest company established in 2016 with the aim of collecting and delivering one million pairs of preloved donated football boots and astros to children and young adults across Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

More than 3,500 collected boots are already either in or on their way to children in six countries across equatorial and southern Africa.

Fifty pairs left for children at the Chogoli football academy in Malawi on Monday with more heading out this month to projects in Ghana and a 500-boot shipment on its way to three clubs in Kenya in February, where Boots2Africa will also be returning in April with the Colchester United Football in the Community project.

Iain Finch, co-founder of Boots2Africa, said: "As with our previous matchday donation events we're looking for Town fans to donate preloved, Boots2Africa, astros and trainers (as long as they're in good condition), and we'll also accept old kits too.

"The response from Town fans during our previous matchday and open day events has been amazing, with over 200 pairs coming in and just as much kit.

Frank from Boxford Rovers and Ipswich School who collected and delivered 75 pairs of boots to Town's open day in July

"For millions of children in rural Africa who have only a T-shirt and a pair of shorts to stand up in, a pair of donated boots, shorts or a fresh football shirt to wear and play football in is an incredibly valuable gift they can use everyday that reduces risk from infection and snakebites, promotes good foot health and general hygiene and, in a World Cup year, they too can dream big like all little boys and girls do!”
