Toulouse and Saint-Etienne Among Clubs Linked With Bru - Ipswich Town News

Blues midfielder Kevin Bru is reportedly being eyed by Toulouse and Town's 1981 UEFA Cup foes Saint-Etienne back in his native France, as well as interesting a number of other clubs, including Cardiff City.

According to France Football, the two Ligue 1 clubs, who play one another on Sunday, have made enquiries regarding Bru, who is out of contract at the end of the season, but so far no offers have been forthcoming.

Other clubs, including some based in Belgium, Polish side Legia Warsaw and Cardiff City are also said to be monitoring Bru's situation.

Paris-born Bru, who was free to find himself a new club in the summer, came close to joining Toulouse in August but the move broke down late on the final day of the transfer window.

"That’s life,” he reflected last month. "Sometimes things happen like that and you have to do other things. I’m not at Toulouse, I’m still with Ipswich and I’m working hard to get games.”

Speaking earlier today, Blues boss Mick McCarthy said he wasn’t aware of any interest in the Mauritius international and that he could stay at Portman Road for the rest of the season due to Town’s continuing midfield injury problems.

Asked if Bru would be allowed to leave during January, McCarthy said: "Not at the moment, no. I’ve no intention of doing that and, I have to be honest, nobody’s been banging my door down, we’re two weeks into the transfer window.

"No, I’ve no intention of that happening. That might change if somebody comes in and offers him a three-year deal somewhere, he might want to go, but that’s not been the case.”
