Matt and Stewy Links - Ipswich Town News

Leeds United are the latest club to be linked with a £5 million move for Town skipper Matt Holland. Elsewhere Marcus Stewart is again reported to be on his way to Sunderland as a replacement for Kevin Phillips.

Leeds manager David O'Leary is said to be confident that he can take Holland to Elland Road ahead of the likes of Aston Villa.

Leeds are likely to start next season without both Olivier Dacourt and Lee Bowyer and O'Leary sees Holland as part of his rebuilt midfield.

In addition to Leeds, Spurs are also being linked with a summer bid for the Irish international.

George Burley has said he will try hard to hold on to Holland while the player has stated that he is happy to remain at Town.

Marcus Stewart has been linked with a move to Sunderland for some while as a replacement for Kevin Phillips, who has long been said to be on his way south to Tottenham for £10 million.

Stewart recently met with George Burley but refused to reveal what was said at that meeting. TWTD understands that he is unhappy at being left on the bench during the last few games of Town's season and has asked to be informed of interest from other clubs.

TWTD reported earlier in the month that Sunderland and one other club were showing serious interest in Stewart. West Brom have also been linked with Town's 2000-01 top scorer.
