FA Youth Cup Date With Blackpool Set - Ipswich Town News

Town’s fifth round FA Youth Cup tie against Blackpool at Portman Road has been set for Tuesday 30th January (KO 7pm).

The U18s, who are coached by Alan Lee and his new assistant Geraint Williams, beat Dagenham and Redbridge 2-1 in Tuesday’s fourth round tie, also at Portman Road, Jack Lankester netting both goals, the first from the penalty spot.

Town have won the Youth Cup on three occasions, in 1973, 1975 and most recently in 2005.

Prior to their game against the Tangerines, who beat Southampton on penalties to claim their fifth round place, the Blues youngsters face Cardiff City at the Leckwith International Stadium on Saturday morning (KO 11am).

They are unbeaten in their last four games including their FA Youth Cup victories over the Daggers and prior to that Everton in the third round.

Town’s U23s are next in action on Monday when they face Sheffield United in the Premier League Cup at Portman Road (KO 7pm).

The Blues have won their first two matches in the competition and are currently second in their group behind Aston Villa, who have played a game more, on goal difference.
