Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Town are a “great club with a great manager” and believes 20-year-old centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers will improve his game while on loan with the Blues.
USA international Carter-Vickers joined Town on loan for the rest of the season earlier today having been recalled from Sheffield United, where he made 18 starts and scored one goal, coincidentally at tomorrow’s opponents Bolton on his Blades debut.
Having come through the Spurs academy, he has made four senior starts, two in the FA Cup and two in the EFL Cup, all last season.
"Yesterday he was training with us and he was in a very good mood,” Pochettino said at his press conference earlier today.
"It was a great experience in Sheffield and we made a quick decision to move [him] to Ipswich. He’s going to learn a lot.
"It's a great club with a great manager and it can help him to improve his game. If he deserves to play games, that is important always.”
Pochettino once said he believed Southend-born Carter-Vickers, who is contracted to Tottenham until the summer of 2020, "can be one of the best centre-backs in England in the future” and he expects him to break into his team eventually.
"Yes, of course [he has a future at Spurs]. [Going on loan is] a great experience for the young players. After two years training with us, he deserves to play.
"He needs to build his career. We’re thinking one day he can come back and have success at Tottenham.”
