Cardiff City are reported to have renewed their interest in Town striker David McGoldrick.
The 30-year-old, whose contract is up at the end of the season with the club not having the usual option to keep him for a further year, was first mentioned in connection with the Bluebirds, as well as Birmingham City, earlier in the month.
Now, according to Wales Online, Cardiff manager Neil Warnock, who wants to add another striker to his squad this month, had turned his attention back towards the Republic of Ireland international with a proposed move for Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban having reached an impasse.
They speculate that an offer somewhere between £500,000 and £1 million might be enough to tempt the Blues into doing a deal for the former Nottingham Forest man, who has scored eight goals this season.
Speaking early in the month, Town boss Mick McCarthy admitted that McGoldrick could be the subject of approaches this month given his contract situation.
"He is an obvious target,” McCarthy said. "None of us want to lose him but we’ll see what happens.”
He added: "I guess there’s the short-term view on the four months left that we’ve got of the season and then the long-term view in terms of if he was to go, it might not be good for the short-term.
"But if we were to replace him with somebody that’s a younger version that comes in and for the long-term of the club that may well be beneficial. If somebody bids for him, if somebody wants to come and take him.”
