Grays Youngster Brown Set to Join Academy - Ipswich Town News

Grays Athletic midfielder Kai Brown, 16, is reportedly set to join the Blues’ academy following a trial, despite interest from Premier League clubs.

Brown spent time at Playford Road earlier this month and scored for the U18s in their 2-2 draw at Millwall.

The central midfield player broke into the Bostik Football League North Division’s first team in August when he made his debut as a sub in a 2-0 FA Cup victory over Redbridge.

He has been a regular in their matchday squad since then - he has now made 13 starts and 24 sub appearances in all competitions, scoring once - and is understood to have been tracked by scouts from several Premier League clubs.

Meanwhile, Stratford Town striker Ben Stephens was spotted at this afternoon’s U23s victory over Millwall at Playford Road.

As reported a fortnight ago, the 21-year-old is set to spend a few days on trial with the Blues this week.
