Town and Sunderland legend Eric Gates is the star guest on Life’s a Pitch on BBC Radio Suffolk on Saturday (12-2pm). Host Mark Murphy will also be joined by legend-in-residence Kevin Beattie, New Tractorboy and TWTD's Phil Ham, who will be at the Stadium of Light ahead of the match against the Black Cats.
Gates, who joined the Blues as an apprentice in 1971, was a key man in Sir Bobby Robson’s team which won the UEFA Cup in 1981.
The Ferryhill-born forward, who won two England caps, eventually left Portman Road for Roker Park back in his native North-East in 1985 and spent five seasons with the Wearsiders and is still based locally.
