Trip Home for Hermann? - Ipswich Town News

A number of names leap out from the list of the other sides involved in the UEFA Cup qualifying round. Sides familiar from previous UEFA Cup campaigns, and at least one which would mean a lot to a current player. Meanwhile unofficial reports say Town could be seeded for the qualifying round.

Hermann Hreidarsson's old club ÍBV Vestmannæyjar are in the draw along with
fellow Icelanders Fylkir. Hermann is from the Vestmann Islands and last season expressed a desire to play against his countrymen in the UEFA Cup.

One name familiar from Town's 1979/80 European campaign is Swiss side Grasshoppers. Back then the Blues lost on the away goals rule after drawing 0-0 at home and 1-1 away.

Also there are Aberdeen who Town lost to in 1981/82, drawing 1-1 at home and losing 3-1 away.

Bobby Robson's old side FC Porto are also there as are Bontcho Guentchev's former club CSKA Sofia.

Uofficial sources say that Town will be seeded for the qualifying round as they have a high UEFA Team Ranking.
