McCarthy Confirms McGoldrick Out for Season - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed striker David McGoldrick will be out for the rest of the season after tearing a tendon in his groin in training earlier in the week. The 30-year-old could have played his last game for the Blues with his contract up at the end of the campaign.

"I don’t think he’ll be operated on but it will keep him out for about 10 weeks so that’s him finished for the season,” McCarthy told iFollow Ipswich.

"He’s been a big player for us and the injury situation has been very unfortunate for him and the team. We have good physios here and we’ll have him up and running as soon as possible.”

Regarding McGoldrick’s future, he added: "It’s a difficult one when you’re nearing the end of your contract and you’re injured.

"It’s open for both parties so it’s down to Didz and the club to have a chat and we’ll see what happens.

"He needs to get his injury sorted first and then him and his representatives will see what the situation is.”
