Nydam and Downes in England U19s Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town duo Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes have been named in the England U19s squad for the European Championships elite qualifying mini-tournament in Macedonia later this month.

Nydam, 18, has previously won one U19s cap, while 19-year-old Downes, who is currently on loan at Luton, has picked up three.

The pair will join up with the squad on Saturday evening before games in Skopje against Hungary on Wednesday 21st March, Latvia three days later and the hosts on Tuesday 27th March.

The European Championship finals are in Finland in July. If they make it, England will be defending the title they won in Georgia last summer, a team which featured Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell, who still qualifies for the U19s but is out injured, almost certainly for the whole season.

England U19s: Ellery Balcombe — Brentford, Jamie Cumming - Chelsea, Trevoh Chalobah Chelsea, Edward Francis - Manchester City, Reece James - Chelsea, Dujon Sterling - Chelsea, Japhet Tanganga - Tottenham Hotspur, Ben Wilmot - Stevenage, Flynn Downes - Luton Town (loan from Ipswich Town), Elliot Embleton - Sunderland, Adam Lewis - Liverpool, Mason Mount - Vitesse Arnhem (loan from Chelsea), Tristan Nydam — Ipswich Town, Joe Willock - Arsenal, Ben Brereton - Nottingham Forest, Phil Foden - Manchester City, George Hirst - Sheffield Wednesday, Reiss Nelson - Arsenal, Edward Nketiah - Arsenal, Jadon Sancho - Borussia Dortmund.
