Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski made his senior international debut as a half-time sub as Poland were defeated 1-0 by Nigeria in Wroclaw.
The 30-year-old replaced Swansea's Lukasz Fabianski ahead of the second half and conceded the game’s only goal in the 61st minute when Chelsea's Victor Moses beat him from the penalty spot.
Bialkowski, the first Blues player ever to win a cap for Poland, is one of four keepers in the squad along with Fabianski, Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus) and Lukasz Skorupski (Roma).
While two of Nawalka’s World Cup keepers look nailed-on certainties - Szczesny and Fabianski - the third space in the squad travelling to Russia is more open with Skorupski currently not playing games for his club.
Bialkowski will hope to have impressed manager Adam Nawalka and his staff with his performance during tonight's match and in training.
Poland, who will be in World Cup Group H along with Senegal, Colombia and Japan, face South Korea in another friendly in Chorzów on Tuesday.
