Celina and Downes Set to Win Caps - Ipswich Town News

Bersant Celina and Flynn Downes are set to add to their international caps later today with Kosovo and the England U19s respectively.

The on-loan Manchester City man and his international team-mates are in action against Madagascar at the Stade Jean Rolland, Franconville, Paris this evening. The 21-year-old has won eight full caps and has scored one international goal. They play Burkina Faso at the same venue on Tuesday.

Downes, who is currently on loan at Luton, and the Young Lions face Lativa in their second European Championships elite qualifying mini-group game in Skopje, Macedonia this afternoon.

On Wednesday they beat Hungary 4-1 with 19-year-old Downes playing the full 90 minutes as he won his fourth U19s cap. They play the hosts in their final fixture on Tuesday.

If England win the group they will reach the finals in Finland in July where they will defend the title they won in Georgia last summer, a team which featured currently-injured Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell, who still qualifies for the U19s.

Fellow Blues midfielder Tristan Nydam, 18, was also named in the squad but pulled out having suffered a knock in last week’s 3-0 defeat to Hull City.
