Former Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton is the latest manager to be linked with the Town job which will become vacant when Mick McCarthy moves on in the summer.
According to The Sun on Sunday Warburton is competing with ex-England boss Steve McClaren - who the same paper claimed was Town’s top choice for the job last week - to succeed McCarthy at Portman Road.
"Warburton, 55, who has been out of work since leaving the City Ground on New Year’s Eve, is said to be interested in the job.
Meanwhile, Luton boss Nathan Jones was unaware of links with Town when quizzed about his potential interest in a move to the Blues.
"It’s not the first time I’ve been linked, but I actually haven’t seen that, it’s the first I’ve heard about it,” the 44-year-old Welshman told Dunstable Today.
"I’ve got a job to do here and let’s just concentrate on getting promoted [from League Two] as that's the most important thing.”
Lincoln’s Danny Cowley - who played down the speculation linking him with Town on Thursday - remains the bookies’ favourite for the job at 6-4 with SkyBet, although would be a surprise appointment given his lack of Football League experience.
Ex-Blues skipper and coach Tony Mowbray, understood to be top of owner Marcus Evans’s list of potential appointments but currently flying high in League One with Blackburn, is second favourite at 11-4.
Wigan boss Paul Cook, 51, who we also understand is a manager admired by the Town owner, has climbed to third-favourite at 7-2. McClaren, 10-1, Warburton, 16-1, and Jones, 22-1, are further down the betting at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, the Blues and Middlesbrough are keen on a summer move for veteran Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton, according to the Sunday People.
Scotland international Hutton, 33, will be out of contract at the end of the season.
Given the Town management situation, any player speculation can currently be taken with a pinch of salt.
