U18s Lose at Barnsley - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s were beaten 1-0 by Barnsley on a training pitch at Oakwell in a rearranged game this afternoon.

Blues keeper Toby Egan mishandled Araphat Abubakar's long-range effort into the net in the 16th minute.

Alan Lee's side were unfortunate to lose the game with Tykes keeper Sam Lomax making a string of saves.

Meanwhile, academy schoolboy Ben Knight, 15, started every game for the England U16s as they finished third at the Montaigu tournament in France.

The England youngsters beat both Russia and Cameroon 2-0 in their opening two games, before Knight netted his only goal of the tournament in a 3-3 draw with Brazil. The Young Lions completed their fixtures by beating France 1-0.

Town’s U23s are in action against Cardiff City at Playford Road on Wednesday afternoon (KO 1pm).

U18s: Egan, Henry (Barley 65), T Smith, El Mizouni, Henderson (Ferenbach 83), Vega, Scott, Foudil, Z Brown, Hughes, Dobra (Ronan 83). Unused: Barley, Baker.
