U18s End Season With Victory Over Huddersfield - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18 side completed their league season with a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town at Playford Road on Saturday morning in conditions which were rather different to the heavy snowfall which caused the abandonment of this fixture just five weeks ago. Six of next season's first-year scholars all started following their induction this week.

The Blues' youngsters, who were overseen by former Town midfielders Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer, took the lead on 48 minutes when centre-back Luca Vega (pictured) bundled the ball in at the near post from Thomas Hughes's corner.

Sub Armando Dobra doubled the lead just three minutes later with a fine solo effort after he beat four visiting defenders before hitting a low effort past Harrison Davison-Hale from the edge of the box.

Huddersfield pulled a goal back on 57 though - Town keeper Mitchell Ware did well to block Abdulyekini Badru's initial effort but Josh Austerfield followed up and rolled the ball into the net.

However in the second minute of stoppage time, another left-sided corner from Hughes was met by the unmarked Zak Brown, and the England U15 international powered a header past Davison-Hale from six yards out.

U18s: Ware, Ruffles, T Smith, Scott, Henderson (Fehrenbach 46), Vega, Z Brown, Ronan (Dobra 46), Simpson, Knight (Barley 61), Hughes. Unused: Foudil, Henry.
