Axeldal Stretchered Off - Ipswich Town News

Jonas Axeldal was stretchered off with what looks like a serious injury as the reserves lost their Avon Insurance Combination Cup Final 3-1 at Bournemouth last night.

Town found themselves down to ten men when the Swede overstretched himself and was carried off. He is suspected of having severe cartilage problems and looks likely to take no further part in Town's push for the Premiership. Town had already lost loanee Keith Branagan (leg injury) and had used both other subs. Town had gone two goals down before Justin Miller pulled one back from a Marco Holster corner. Bournemouth wrapped it up with a third in stoppage time. Branagan could now be a worry for Saturday and James Pullen may get his second afternoon on the bench of the season. Town side: Branagan (Pullen 67), Kennedy, Moffat, Bramble, J Miller, Holster, Maurel (Artun 59), Niven, Axeldal, Logan, A Wright (A Miller 71). Unused subs: Little and Daly

Town's main injury worry for the weekend is John McGreal who is still suffering with the injury which has kept him out of Town's recent games. Keith Branagan, injured in the reserves last night, is included as is third choice keeper James Pullen. Manu Thetis is also included despite his ankle injury. Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Pullen, Croft, Clapham, Wilnis, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Reuser, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Thetis and Logan.
