Sheepy on Holland - Ipswich Town News

David Sheepshanks has spoken regarding the increasing speculation over Matt Holland's future. He has reiterated George Burley's view that Town would like to keep Holland but that every player has his price. Both Sheepshanks and Burley will watch Holland in action for Ireland against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The chairman says he understands why there is talk of a Holland move and told the club site: "We have no wish to sell Matt. He is club skipper and an immensely valuable member of our squad.

"It is only natural that there is a lot of speculation at this time with him doing so well for Ireland at the World Cup.

"I've made it clear all along that we have to sell players to counter the effect of relegation but at this point we have had no bids for any of our players. So nothing can be ruled in or out."

Burley and Sheepshanks have already watched a number of World Cup games and have wished their skipper the best of luck as the Irish seek to progress to the second phase.

Town's chairman and manager were present at England's glorious 1-0 win against Argentina and also took in Japan's victory over Russia. After the Ireland game they will watch the Sweden-Argentina game before returning home.

Sheepshanks and Burley have used this trip to make new contacts throughout the world of football. It is unlikely that they will try to sign any players they have spotted during the tournament due to the financial situation since relegation.
