Woolfenden Recalled From Bromley Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town have recalled defender Luke Woolfenden from his loan spell with Vanarama National League side Bromley.

The 19-year-old will go straight into the squad for the trip to Reading tomorrow with the Blues short of right-sided defenders. Dominic Iorfa is out for the season with a groin problem, while Barry Cotter has also been struggling for fitness.

Woolfenden has made 17 starts and three sub appearances for the Ravens having joined them just before Christmas, but will now miss out on playing in next month’s FA Trophy final against Brackley at Wembley.

Bromley boss Neil Smith paid tribute to Woolfenden: "Luke has been brilliant since he came in, for such a young lad.

"He’s played a massive part in getting us to Wembley and to be called back to Ipswich’s first team is a big achievement in respect of his hard work with us.

"Luke will always be remembered and welcome here and we look forward to seeing his career prosper.”

The academy product, who plays at right-back or centre-half, has made two appearances for the Blues, as a sub at Luton in the Carabao Cup in August before starting in the next round at Crystal Palace.
