Academy Showcase Tribute to Long-Serving Staff Member Parker - Ipswich Town News
Town’s annual Academy Showcase game against Tottenham Hotspur at Portman Road on Saturday 12th May will be played for the Dick Parker Trophy in tribute to the long-serving club employee who died suddenly at the end of last year.
Parker, a lifelong Spurs fan, who worked for the Blues for more than 20 years, most recently as academy kit man and caretaker at Playford Road, died in December aged 67.
The game, which kicks off at 2pm and will feature mixed U15s/U16s teams, has become an annual end-of-season fixture over the last decade.
Manchester United were the regular opponents for a number of years and Tottenham more recently due to current caretaker-manager Bryan Klug’s connections with the White Hart Lane club’s academy where he worked between 2010 and 2012.
