Knudsen in Provisional Danish World Cup Squad - Ipswich Town News
Blues defender Jonas Knudsen has been named in Denmark’s provisional 35-man squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
In March, the 25-year-old won his third full international cap in a 0-0 friendly draw with Chile, and his first since joining Town.
Speaking last month, Knudsen said "it would mean everything" to him to win a place at the finals where Denmark will play Peru, Australia and France in the group stages.
"It was fantastic to get back into the squad again and the manager [Ã…ge Hareide] told me I trained well," he said.
"It is not easy to get into the Danish team because they have done well to qualify for the World Cup finals in Russia, so to get 90 minutes against Chile was terrific for me.
"I am hopeful of going to Russia and I have a chance but there is still a lot of work to do. First and foremost I have to do well for Ipswich in the six remaining games."
Prior to the finals the Danes are playing friendlies away in Sweden on Saturday 2nd June and at home against Mexico the following Saturday. Monday 4th June is the deadline for submitting the final 23-man squad.
